About my courses...

Thank you for an interesting and informative sewing course yesterday held at John Lewis in Solihull .
I shall be getting in touch re other courses and order some interfacing from you.
Congratulations on fulfilling some of your dreams and helping others in such an easy manner to fulfil theirs.

Barbara Osborne

Many thanks for the interlining which arrived this morning.  The pressing cloth is for a gift to a friend so there is no hurry.  I have given this friend some samples of your interlining and the magic it performs so you may hear from her sometime.  I made a jacket of loose weave fabric recently, which I know would have been a disaster without the interlining.  It has transformed my sewing and I will always be grateful for discovering you and your techniques.  As I mentioned my trouser wardrobe has enlarged and I now feel comfortable wearing trousers as I never did before I attended your workshop.  I notice from your website that you now have your own premises and hopefully one day I will find time to take a course again.  The lingerie one temps me as it is a completely different technique from anything I was taught - do you need an overlocker?

Thanks once again.
Ann Hall

I just wanted to say thank you so much for the course I recently attended on jacket/shirt pattern fitting, at the time it was hard to digest all the new information I was given, but once back at home for a few days it all makes sense.

I had a great time and found the course so interesting, you not only have a gift for pattern fitting & dressmaking but also for being an excellent teacher.

Once again thank you, I hope to see you soon on another one of your courses, I am hooked!

Thank you so much for the Overlocker day on Monday. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the amount of information and tips you gave us was amazing.

Lynne Oseland,  Worcestershire.

I shall always be thankful for the second course I had with you (Inside Secrets) I understand so much more about tailoring interfacings and fabrics.

Cathy Mathews,  St.Kitts West Indies

Just a note to say how much I enjoyed the course on Saturday 10th I felt it was well worth the trip down from St Andrews

Mavis Macdonald,  Fife Scotland

I cannot emphasise just how thrilled I was in having the opportunity to meet such a friendly person, with such a great gift, passion and enthusiasm for sewing. "It was indeed a great pleasure" I would also like to thank your assistant who like yourself shares the same enthusiasm and was extremely helpful.

Susan Middleton, Middlesex

I was at the NEC recently and was fortunate enough to attend your Jacket fitting session, I found it both interesting and informative. I then visited your stand and viewed some of your creations.

I just wanted to drop you a line and say what beautiful work you produce. I did my City and Guilds in Fashion and Design some years ago and attended the London College of Fashion for a short while at an evening class studying tailoring so I have a tremendous interest in good workmanship.

Jill Wood,  Middlesex

I found you article in the November issue of Sewing World very helpful, in fact the best I’ve seen on the subject. Have you published anything more on fitting/ adjustments? Judging by the way you dealt with Sway Back, I would find a book useful for dealing with other figure problems.

Catherine Daniel, London

I put into practice the techniques I learnt on the Speed Tailoring and was delighted with the results. How I have managed all these years without knowing any of this I really don’t know. It is a revelation.

Bobby Heath, Worcestershire

Thank you so much for all your help, patience, and expertise in helping me to achieve my goal of making tailored jackets. I feel so confident now with making coats as well as jackets and know that I couldn’t have done it without your encouragement to carry on when the going got tough! Plain sailing now I think although I need help with skirts now.

Louise Parkes, Birmingham

While at the NEC we attended one of your very interesting lectures. One of the questions I asked you was " was it possible to use your special fusible fabric on knitwear?" As I design knitwear I was anxious to try it out. I was delighted with the samples I tried. I knitted the samples in 2ply lambswool and ironed on your product. Not only was I able to cut into it without it fraying but when the samples were washed and repressed the fused fabric remained intact. I thought you would be interested to know to pass on to your students.

about Sewing World Day...

Thank you for providing what was so obviously needed by the ladies of the Midlands! It seems if you live south of Watford or in the north you are well supplied with sewing goodies and fabrics.  Geoff Rosenberg certainly had plenty for us to choose from...

Wendy, Kenilworth

Thank you for such a great day. It was a joy to be able to buy good fabric and professional interfacings other than at the NEC or Alexandra Palace..... The talks were also very worthwhile.

Sue, Aylesbury

I travelled up from Hampshire and really enjoyed the day. I am sure you must have been thrilled by the response. Everyone I spoke to was so friendly and chatty, I wish I lived nearer so I could attend your courses.....

Anne, Hampshire

We came to your Solihull day on Saturday from Somerset and had a super few hours. My mum and I loved your workshop about interfacings. Please, please can you let us know when you will be doing more....

Janette, Somerset

What a marvellous day! Truly a lovely day out with inspiration all around - a big thank you to Gill for organising it and an equally big thank you to the exhibitors who shared their wares and their expertise with all of us and with a lovely programme of talks, too!
Old friends and new, everywhere a friendly face, all in a all a lovely day and one which I hope will be repeated next year!
The whole day was marvellous and the feelgood factor stayed with us over the weekend.... my Spanish visitor has promised to arrange her next years' holiday to coincide with any other events you may arrange!

   about my website...

Thank you very much Gill!  I found your website today!  You have a great website!!! Where I live in the U.S. there are not very many ladies who sew anymore! I have been sewing since I was 5 yrs. old. (And that was a very long time ago since I am old enough to be "Forrest Gump's" girlfriend!)  :o)

I have found others online who share my passion for fabric, patterns, etc!  It is so much more fun today with new techniques coming out all the time.

A person on "AboutSewing" gave me your web address.  She also gave me your "fly zipper" technique. She says we will never struggle with those again! I wish you weren't so far away, I would love to take some of the classes you offer!!! Because there are not many people sewing around here, there a very few "classes" offered. Only a few at the "Sewing Machine" stores!

Again Gill, I sincerely appreciate you sending me a resource where I can check on Sewing World magazine here in the US.  It is so very nice to meet you!
